Based in Suffolk, our dynamic team offers pragmatic and cost-effective solutions with high-quality results. Toby Abrehart - Director/Principal Ecologist

Toby is a highly experienced ecologist with expertise in terrestrial and freshwater molluscs, botany, ornithology, and mammalogy. He has worked with government agencies and conservation organizations to evaluate sites and provide management advice. Toby has also provided training for various clients and has experience in Western Europe in both botanical and invertebrate ecology.

Lindsey Jennings - Director/Project Coordinator

Lindsey joined Abrehart Ecology at the beginning of 2014, with over 12 years administration experience. Lindsey is one of the main point of contacts for our clients providing them with fee proposals and arranging site visits.

 

She provides support to the ecologists in house and in field, whilst also dealing with  secretarial work dealing with a range of administrative tasks, such as accountancy work, appointments, and overseeing the planning of the company’s fieldwork diary.

 

Lindsey is trained in a variety of office software packages which helps towards invoicing, data inputting and producing presentations within the business. Lindsey became director of the company in 2023 after working here for seven years.

Alister (Ali) Killingsworth - Senior Ecologist

Alister has an MSc in Applied Ecology and has been working in ecological consultancy since 2013. He specializes in residential development, commercial, and renewable energy projects. Alister has extensive knowledge of protected species survey and legislation.

Thomas is a BSc (Hons) in Ecology graduate from 2020 and has been working with us for over three years. During his time here, he has gained valuable experience in brush cutting, habitat management, ecological fencing, as well as reptile surveys, water vole surveys, badger surveys, and bat surveys. He is also a GCN level 1 class licence holder.

Dave Bescoby - GIS Specialist

Qualifications:

Dave has 25+ years of experience in the heritage sector, both in the UK and abroad. He holds an MSc with distinction in Geoarchaeology and completed his Ph.D on Roman Butrint, southern Albania. Dave is an Honorary lecturer at the University of East Anglia has published extensively on geoarchaeology and archaeological geophysics. His research interests include alluvial environmental histories, deposit modelling, and the use of GIS in predictive modelling and geophysics. Dave's recent projects include working on large saltmarsh vegetation comparisons to determine changes within estuaries in East Anglia over a 20-year period.

James Roberts - Assistant Ecologist

James graduated with a first class-degree in Biological Sciences BSc (Hons) in 2021. With an interest in entomology, he has already gained experience in freshwater invertebrate lab techniques, taxonomic identification of several invertebrate families, and assisted in invertebrate surveys and report writing. He is also working towards a Great Crested Newt Level 1 licence and has had experience in Phase 1 PEA surveys and bat surveys.

Emily Abrehart - Assistant Ecologist

  • PADI rescue diver

  • BDMLR Marine mammal medic

Emily has worked with us for under a year with a background in marine conservation. She has surveyed great crested newts, bats, and undertaken PEAs, and holds a dive rescue certificate. Originally from the British Virgin Islands, Emily brings a unique perspective to her work in the field.

Terry Stopher - Ornithologist

Qualifications:

  • CSCS

  • Outdoor first aid

Terry is an experienced ornithologist and has expertise in breeding bird surveys, transects, winter bird surveys, bird ringing and species-specific surveys. He also has expeirnce in ECoW and has been involved with various large scale devlopment projects.

  • Barn owl (accredited agent)
